P-38 Cockpit Photos

Just found some great cockpit photos taken at the recent P-38 event at the Planes of Fame in Chino.  They were taken by “Larry” and are really worth a look.  The cockpit exhibit was built by Lee Northrop of the 475th FG Historical Foundation (I think their website is under repair).

You can find them here on the Warbirds Resource Group site.

Thanks to Pat Carry.

  1. Hello,
I just found your website and my Dad Barton M. Russell which was a joy. I wish I knew what happened to him when his plane made a belly
landing at Kingscliffe. Do you know?
    Thanks for your help.
    His daughter, Bonnie

  2. Hi, Bonnie:

Re your request for information about your Dad, since our organization is focused on the P-38 Lightning itself, rather than the pilots and crew, we don’t have a database of information on any personnel. In the past, some folks have had success contacting:

    USAF Archives, HQ AFHRA/ISR
    600 Chennault Circle
    Maxwell AFB, AL 36112-6424
    Research Division: (334) 953-2241
    Customer Service: (334) 953-5834
    Archives Branch: (334) 953-2395
    Organizational Histories Branch: (334) 953-2296

Their records usually vary in quality from excellent to infuriating, but offer the best chance of finding what you would want. I found this website, which seems to be connected to this phone number. http://www.afhra.af.mil/ That might be a place to start.

Much good luck with your mission.
